The Acropolis of Athens It is an ancient citadel located on top of the city of Athens and contains the remains of several ancient buildings of great architectural and historical importance, the most famous being the Parthenon.

While there is evidence that the hill was inhabited in the fourth millennium BC, it was Pericles (around 495-429 BC) in the 5th century BC. who coordinated the construction of the most important buildings on the site, including the Parthenon, the Erechtheum and the Temple of Athena Nike.
